Telehandler Rental Dubai — Price Guide and Sizing (2026)
Telehandler rental in Dubai runs roughly AED 600 to AED 1,400 per day depending on lift height and capacity, with monthly rates cutting that by 40-50%. A telehandler is often the most versatile machine on a site — here's how to price and size one, and when it beats a forklift or crane.
What is a telehandler?
A telehandler (telescopic handler) is a hybrid of a forklift and a small crane: a rough-terrain machine with an extending telescopic boom that can lift loads up, out, and forward. Fit it with forks and it's a high-reach forklift; fit it with a bucket, jib, or platform and it does much more. On UAE construction sites they're workhorses for moving blocks, lifting materials to height, and loading/unloading.
Telehandler rates by size
| Class | Lift height / capacity | Daily (AED) | Monthly (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact | ~6m / 2.5-3t | 600-900 | 11,000-16,000 |
| Standard | ~13-14m / 3.5-4t | 800-1,200 | 15,000-22,000 |
| High-reach | ~17-18m / 4t | 1,100-1,400 | 20,000-28,000 |
| Heavy / rotational | ~18m+ / 5t+ (360° rotating) | 1,400-2,200 | 26,000-40,000 |
Rates are dry hire. Common brands in the UAE fleet include JCB, Manitou, Merlo, and CAT. As with most equipment, brand makes little difference to price — spec (height + capacity) drives the rate.
Telehandler vs forklift vs crane
The telehandler's versatility is its selling point, but it's not always the right tool:
- Choose a telehandler over a forklift when you need to reach up and forward (placing loads on a slab at height, feeding materials onto scaffolding), or when the ground is rough. A standard forklift is cheaper but limited to flat ground and low lifts.
- Choose a telehandler over a crane for repetitive material handling and moderate lifts — it's far cheaper to rent and operate than a mobile crane, and one machine does loading, lifting, and transport.
- Choose a crane over a telehandler for heavy precise lifts, very high reach, or lifting over obstacles — telehandlers top out around 18m and have lower capacity at full extension.
Attachments expand what it does
- Forks (standard): Pallet and material handling
- Bucket: Loading loose material
- Jib / hook: Crane-style lifting of slung loads
- Work platform: Turns it into a temporary MEWP (requires the operator to be appropriately certified)
Attachments are usually AED 100-400/day extra. Bundle them at quote time for a better rate.
Operator requirements
Telehandler operators need a valid plant operator licence for the emirate, and where the machine is used as a MEWP (with a work platform attachment), the relevant aerial-work certification applies. Hiring with operator typically adds AED 400-600/day. Verify credentials before mobilisation.
