Boom Lift Rental in Dubai — Per-Day and Monthly Prices by Height (2026)
Boom lift rental in Dubai ranges from AED 400 per day for a small 14m articulated machine to AED 3,500 per day for a 40m+ telescopic lift. Monthly rates cut the per-day cost by roughly 40-50%. Here's what UAE suppliers actually charge — and the hidden costs that don't show up in the initial quote.
Boom lift rates in Dubai by height class
UAE rental companies price boom lifts by working height and platform type. The two main categories are articulated booms (with a knuckle joint, good for going up-and-over obstacles) and telescopic booms (straight-extending, longer reach). Here are the current published market rates:
| Class / Type | Daily (AED) | Weekly (AED) | Monthly (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small boom 14-15m (45ft articulated) | 400 – 800 | 2,000 – 3,500 | 6,000 – 9,000 |
| Medium boom 20-22m (65-75ft) | 800 – 1,400 | 4,000 – 6,000 | 12,000 – 16,500 |
| Large articulated boom 26m (80ft) | 1,200 – 1,800 | 6,000 – 9,000 | 18,000 – 25,000 |
| Telescopic boom 30-40m+ (100-130ft) | 1,500 – 3,500 | 10,000 – 15,000 | 28,000 – 55,000 |
These are dry hire rates — machine only. Fuel is the customer's responsibility on diesel booms. Operator is almost always charged separately.
Articulated vs telescopic — which do you need?
This is the question that drives most of the cost variation. Articulated booms have a knuckle joint in the boom arm, which lets the platform travel up, over, and around obstacles. Telescopic booms extend in a straight line — longer reach, but they need clear space to deploy.
- Choose articulated for facade maintenance, signage installation, indoor warehouse work with rack obstructions, MEP work above existing structures, and any job where you need to position the platform around a barrier.
- Choose telescopic for steel erection, tower painting, high-rise window cleaning at extreme heights, and any job where you have clear ground access and need vertical reach beyond 35m.
Articulated booms generally cost 10-15% more than telescopic at the same working height because they're more complex machines. But if you rent a telescopic when you need an articulated, you'll burn days repositioning the machine on awkward sites — a false economy.
Scissor lifts — the cheaper alternative for low-height work
If your work is below 12m and you have a clear vertical access path, scissor lifts are dramatically cheaper than boom lifts:
| Scissor lift class | Daily (AED) | Monthly (AED) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric 6-8m (19-26ft) | 200 – 380 | 3,000 – 6,500 | Indoor warehouse, mall fit-out, AC duct work |
| Electric 10-12m (32-40ft) | 480 – 750 | 8,500 – 14,000 | Higher ceiling installations, signage |
| Diesel 14-16m (45-52ft) | 600 – 950 | 11,000 – 17,000 | Outdoor construction, rough terrain |
Electric scissor lifts run on battery — no fuel cost, no diesel fumes, suitable for indoor work. You'll need to plan for overnight charging access on long jobs. Diesel scissors are outdoor-only and have higher maintenance, hence the price uplift.
The operator question — and the IPAF requirement
Here's the critical piece most contractors miss: Dubai Municipality mandates that every operator of a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) holds an IPAF PAL card. This applies to boom lifts and scissor lifts. Operating a MEWP without a current PAL card on a Dubai site can get the equipment yellow-tagged and the operator fined.
Some rental companies (Manlift Group, Rapid Access, QER) also run IPAF training centres if you want to certify your own people. PAL card training runs 1-2 days and costs around AED 1,500-2,500 per operator. The certificate is valid for 5 years.
Delivery and setup costs
Boom lifts are physically large — even a 26m model needs a low-bed trailer for transport. Delivery costs are accordingly higher than for excavators:
- Within Dubai: AED 800 - 1,500 for a small boom or scissor, AED 2,000 - 3,500 for a large boom (40m+).
- Dubai to Sharjah: AED 1,200 - 2,500.
- Dubai to Abu Dhabi / Mussafah: AED 2,500 - 5,000.
- To remote sites (Al Ain, Western Region): AED 4,000 - 10,000+, often requiring escort vehicles for the largest machines.
If you're renting multiple scissor lifts for a fit-out project, ask about consolidated delivery — most companies will fit four to six electric scissors on a single low-bed and pass the savings on. It's a common cost optimisation on mall and warehouse build-outs.
When should you rent monthly vs daily?
The break-even point for boom lifts comes faster than for excavators because the monthly rate is so deeply discounted. Quick math on a 26m articulated boom:
| Job duration | Best rate option | Indicative total (AED) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | Daily × 3 | ~4,500 |
| 10 days | Weekly + daily top-up | ~10,500 |
| 15 days | Monthly (cheaper than 2 weeks + daily) | ~22,500 |
| 30 days | Monthly | ~22,500 |
At around 12-15 days of work, monthly hire becomes cheaper than continuing on daily rates. If your scaffold permit covers a 30-day window or your project schedule has any slip risk, take the monthly — you're paying for the option not to pay overtime.
What about insurance and damage?
Most UAE boom lift rentals include third-party liability insurance built into the rate, but exclude damage to the machine itself. If your operator tips the boom or punches the platform through a glass facade, that's on you — and a damaged 40m telescopic can cost over AED 500,000 to repair.
Two options to manage this risk:
- Damage waiver: Some rental companies offer a 10-15% uplift on the daily rate to waive damage liability. Worth it for short jobs with inexperienced operators.
- Own equipment insurance: If you run multiple rentals through the year, get a contractor's equipment policy from a UAE insurer — typically cheaper long-term than per-rental waivers.
Six questions to ask before signing
- Is VAT 5% included or added to the quoted rate?
- Is the operator PAL-card-certified, and can you see the card before delivery?
- What's the damage waiver fee and what's the deductible if you don't take it?
- Is delivery and collection charged each way, or one-way only?
- How long is the minimum rental — half-day, full day, three days?
- If the machine breaks down on site, what's the replacement turnaround SLA?
Methodology and sources
Rates compiled from UAE rental company published pricing as of May 2026: DreamWay Rental, AdnanRentals, Dmag Equipment, BuildOra G, SS Rental, and listings from across the MachineryRentalMarket marketplace. Where sources gave different rates for similar specifications, ranges show the spread. Outliers (typically wet-hire all-in listings) were flagged and excluded from median calculations.
